For forums, blogs, gallery and other user contributing sections of Talk Rowing: All user contributing sections provided by Talk Rowing are designed to enhance visitor enjoyment. We do ask you to observe the following rules and guidelines: The forums are for discussions about rowing, reader experiences, technical problems, the sport and other similar issues. Visitors are encouraged to contribute to these forums. Most of our groups are open and anyone can submit their own comments, or reply to those posted by others. There are some exceptions where postings are limited to subscribers and/or registered users. * Please try to stay on subject. * Bad language or threatening behaviour is not acceptable. Postings containing any language likely to offend other readers will be deleted. This also applies to any messages containing offensive statements relating to sexual orientation, race, religion or other factors having no relevance to the subject. * Commercial postings are not permitted. They are not a vehicle for press releases, adverts, or any other solicited or unsolicited commercial communication. * You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, libellous, hateful, threatening or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. * By contributing content you confirm that such material is entirely your own work and grant Talk Rowing the permission to reproduce this material in any or all of its publications. You also agree to comply with the Acceptable Use Policy. Compliance with our policy is a contractual requirement of access to our forums, gallery and blogs and other user contributing sections. Failure to comply may lead to a suspension or termination of your user account without further notice from us. We reserve the right to remove postings without prior notification. We further reserve our right to pursue any individual/group via the laws of England and Wales. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid enforcement of these conditions, and can be revealed to police or other authorities upon a formal request. You agree that Talk Rowing has the right to remove, edit, move or close any user submited data or account information at any time deemed appropriate and at the discretion of the moderating team. You agree to any information you have entered being stored on a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent or legal jurisdiction Talk Rowing cannot be held responsible for any event that may lead to the data being compromised. In the event that you find inappropriate material is posted to this board, you agree to submit a report using either the inbuilt alert system or by emailing abuse@talkrowing.co.uk We agree to either respond to your alert or fix the offence within a reasonable period of time. Privacy Policy
Talk Rowing takes your privacy seriously, mainly because the admin and moderating team are all member themselves! In general we believe: 1) Email addresses should never be sold to third parties. 2) Private information identifying individuals should not be collected surreptitiously 3) People holding your data should take reasonable care to keep it safe 4) Private data may have to be released when complying with legal authorities requests. During the course of any visit to Talk Rowing, the pages you see, along with a short text file called a 'cookie', are downloaded to your computer. Many websites do this, because cookies enable website publishers to do useful things like find out whether the computer (and probably its user) has visited the website before. This is done on a repeat visit by checking to see, and finding, the cookie left there on the last visit. Information supplied by cookies can help us to provide you with a better online user experience and assist us to analyse the profile of our visitors. When contributing content to Talk Rowing your IP address will be recorded along with a timestamp of your contribution. This information will be held privately, but Talk Rowing will comply with the laws of England and Wales with regards to the provision of data to the relevant authorities allowed for under the Date Protection Act 1998. As such it important to realise that Talk Rowing may be required to release details about "anonymous" postings which are deemed illegal. Such information is likely to be able to identify the computer and location of the computer the anonymous posting was made from.
